Lagos: Hot Cities (A BBC Documentary)

In this documentary, BBC gives a glimpse of what it takes to survive in Lagos; Nigeria's own mega cities

Some Interesting Takes..

  • This Fashola sure doesn't sound like one of the usual Nigerian politicians. So well read, so well spoken, so visionary and forward thinking. Lagos is lucky to have him...sad there might never be a follow up if our education keeps producing the sub-standard products that now abound
  • Speaking of our education system, the shock capture of the underground and unregulated immigrant primary school system is Maroko is shocking...very sad that many of these kids have to live an invisible life in Nigeria
  • Selling water on the lagoon..yeah, when scarcity meets abundance the key to figuring out the mismatch is the powerlessness of disconnected impoverished against a connected few. Predator state; visionless leadership
  • Three women stand out in this documentary- Officer Georgette, the widow food seller caring lovingly for her children, and the oceanographer lady sure are the unnamed heroes of our society...women bearing the brunt of our bad leaders and making a difference where they can.

you've really got to visit Naija. you care so much and it would be nice to see for yourself :)
Fashola is special. Competent/capable. Rumour has it that he's besieged at the moment, his hands are tied with some political palaver. So maybe his good work will continue, or maybe he won't be able to continue, depends on how the whole thing is managed.
But man, he didn't just talk the talk, he made Lagos much much much better.
